Meet our dedicated team

Heath Simpson
Lead Pastor

My name is Heath Simpson, and I began serving as Senior Pastor of Advent Community Church in September of 2011.  I married my wonderful wife, Jody in April of 2009.  Since that time, we have doubled our family size with two children, Amandolyn and Cameron.  I was born and raised in the southern-most part of North Carolina in the town of Monroe, while Jody was raised on the shore of Lake Michigan in Oostburg, Wisconsin.  Jody attended Northwestern College for undergrad, and earned a Masters of Social Work degree from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; I earned a BA degree in Bible Ministry from Milligan College.  We began our life of ministry together in Lenoir, NC before being called to Mechanicsville.  God had a wonderful plan in place, and we’re honored and blessed that He brought us together, and directed us here, to Hanover County, to raise our children in this incredible community; and to serve together for the mission of the Church.

Amy Williams
Youth Pastor

My name is Amy Williams.  My husband, Andrew, and I have been married for 13 years.  We have two beautiful daughters.  I attended Milligan College and earned by B.S. in Nursing with a minor in Psychology.  After nearly 10 years of practicing nursing in a traditional setting, I was called to Advent to serve as the full-time youth minister.  I have been serving in this capacity for 4 years now.  It is fun to see the many ways that God has incorporated my nursing skills with ministry.  I love working with our students, families, and community to promote spiritual, physical, and emotional health and well-being.

Jordyn Schloss

My name is Jordyn Schloss, I currently am 23 years old. I work at Advent Christian Childcare as the Assistant Director and absolutely love it. Right now, I attend Grand Canyon University, a Christian-based college, and am working towards getting my bachelor’s in education. My dream is to work at my job that I am at right now for forever. Advent is my safe-zone and being there for children is something I will always be about.

Pam Dicken
Child Care Administrator

Pam has been a Hanover County resident for 55 years.  She is a member of the Advent Community Church.  She has been the Administrator at Advent Christian Child Care Center since September of 2014.  As Administrator, Pam is responsible for the entire operation of the child care center, and the care of well over 100 children.  Prior to becoming Administrator, Pam was a Lead Teacher for 13 years at the center.  Working in Child Care has always been a calling from God, for Pam, and we are thankful for her service.

Easy to get to. Even easier to stay with.
